The uses for Poybond Q19 Epoxy Paint beneath renders and plasters in damp
areas, both above and below ground level are well established. They have
previously relied on the use of traditional cement renders and a hard plaster finish.
Recent studies carried out in conjunction with Tilcon Limited have resulted in a
new light weight, easily applied renovating system which has the following
properties:
1.
Prevents the ingress of moisture ruining internal decorations.
2.
Improves thermal insulation and restrict condensation.
3.
Inhibits efflorescence.
4.
Stops mould growth, rust and pattern staining.
The recommended application is as follows:
1.
Dub out & make good all cracks, open joints or deep hollows using Limelite
Renovating Plaster (at no more than 11mm thickness per application).
Should it be necessary to apply a levelling coat to the entire surface eg. a
rough stone wall, then this should be done using a traditional sand/cement
render. (We would suggest a 3:1 sand cement ratio, with no additives).
2.
Apply the Polybond Q19 barrier system comprising One coat Q19 Clear
Sealer, One coat Q19 Eggshell and One coat Q19 Clear Sealer.
3.
'Blind' this final coat with clean, sharp sand or dry renovating plaster whilst
still tacky. Coats of different colours make it easier to see that an even
application has been achieved. 24 hours should be left between coats. We
also recommend that on surfaces with a history of damp penatration that
alternate coats be applied at 90° to each other.
4.
After 3 to 4 hours but no sooner and preferably within 24 hours of 'blinding',
apply one coat Limelite Renovating Plaster (11mm).
5.
Apply one coat of Limelite Finishing Plaster (1.5mm) 24 hours later.( see
Limelite literature*)
